What Is Financial Wellness?

Everyone thinks of physical, emotional and spiritual wellness, but have you ever considered how your finances could be impacting your overall well-being?  With 56% of American’s unable to cover a $1,000 emergency price-tag, it’s no wonder many are feeling financially insecure. What if I told you there are techniques to feel secure in your financial future and make choices that let you enjoy life? It’s the principal of Financial Wellness. Financial Wellness can reduce preoccupation with money needs, improve your overall well-being and improve your relationships. Financial Wellness is being in a situation where YOU control your day-to-day and month-to-month finances. You have the freedom and security to deal with financial emergencies and still stay on track to meet your long-term financial goals. Bottom line, you control your money, your money doesn’t control you.

Does this all sound too good to be true?

I can assure you it’s not. After getting out of the Army, Susie worked for Army Community Service as a budget counselor and financial educator. Helping soldiers and their families become free from debt and start saving for the future became a passion of hers.

After many years of living what she was teaching, she was still hit with the overwhelming consequences of a fallen market which led to them “just staying afloat” like so many Americans. After a series of bad choices, the downturn in the housing market and a longer than expected time to find a job took, Susie and Shane found themselves wiped of their savings and the bonus Susie received from the Army that was supposed to be invested.  This cycle continued for many years and they were heart broken – seeing their bonus checks year after year going to either paying off debt or trying to keep up with the Jones’.

Then in 2016, they received some wise counsel changing their future financial trajectory! Susie and her husband Shane took a class that saved their future called Financial Peace.  This course, once again, changed their perspective on money. They started making monthly budgets and took control back over their money – telling their money where to go! From there, they worked their way out of $35,000+ worth of debt in under 14 months! Susie and Shane started to build a solid plan to live their best life in retirement and ensure their son’s future.

Susie is now a certified budget & personal finance coach. She received the Ramsey Solutions Master Financial Coach designation in 2022. Having the experience and knowledge, Susie would love to pass it on to you!
